    Off-piste skiing in Val d'Isère

Val d'Isère offers some of the finest off-piste terrain in the Alps. All French ski instructors share the same qualification to lead off-piste; what makes the difference is experience. I have taught off-piste in Chamonix, in Val d'Isère and at Pic du Midi, where I was part of a specialised off-piste school.

    For confident skiers

Off-piste sessions are for skiers who are comfortable on black runs. From lift-accessed powder close to the pistes to bigger descents, each session is adapted to your level, to the snow and to the conditions of the day. During a private lesson on-piste, if your level and the conditions allow, we can also take a few turns off the piste together.

    Safety

Safety comes first. I choose the terrain according to the weather, the avalanche risk level published for the resort and the level I observe on the day. If conditions are not right, we stay on-piste - there is always great skiing to be done.

What you needeach participant must carry an avalanche transceiver (DVA), a shovel, a probe and a backpack. This equipment can be rented in resort. Every off-piste session starts with a safety briefing on how to use the rescue equipment.
