About Olivier - Private Ski Instructor in Val d'Isère
I grew up between two mountain worlds - Barèges in the Pyrenees, where my mother lived, and Val d'Isère in the Alps, where I am now based as a private ski instructor. Skiing has always been a natural part of my life.
After my studies, I chose to become a ski instructor and settled in Chamonix, where I spent ten years developing my experience on varied terrain and conditions. I later explored other regions, including the Mercantour resorts (Auron and Isola 2000), before returning to Val d'Isère, where I founded my own ski school in 2005. I ran it for five seasons, offering private ski lessons for an international clientele and refining a more personal approach to teaching.
I then moved back to the Pyrenees and co-developed an off-piste ski school at the Pic du Midi de Bigorre and on the Grand Tourmalet area. Throughout these years, I continued to return regularly to Val d'Isère to ski and teach with my long-standing clients.
Over time, I have skied in more than 60 resorts across France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and Andorra, building a deep understanding of different terrains, snow conditions and mountain environments.
A different way of teaching
Beyond technical skills, my teaching is based on how each person learns and experiences skiing. Some skiers respond to intuition, others to structure, others to precise analysis. I adapt my approach accordingly, so that each explanation feels natural and effective.
This allows for faster progress, more confidence, and a more enjoyable experience on the mountain.
Experience in off-piste skiing and mountain safety
30+ years of teaching and guiding, from Chamonix to the Pyrenees and Val d'Isère. I have extensive experience in off-piste skiing and private ski guiding, as well as group management and mountain safety, including search and rescue techniques. I also place great importance on reading snow conditions and weather, which are essential for both performance and safety.
I hold the French State Diploma (Brevet d'État d'Éducateur Sportif - Alpine Skiing) and work fluently in both French and English.
Based in Val d'Isère, I offer private ski lessons and off-piste experiences throughout the resort. Individuals, families and teens from age 10, and small groups of up to 6. Same price for 1 to 6 people.

- Yes, I provide tailored private ski lessons. Individuals, families and teens from age 10, and small groups of up to 6. Same price for 1 to 6 people.
- Do you offer off-piste skiing?
- Yes, off-piste sessions can be organised depending on conditions and your level. Each participant must carry an avalanche transceiver (DVA), a shovel and a probe. This equipment can be rented in resort.
- How many people can join a private lesson?
- Up to 6 people, at the same price.
- What languages do you teach in?
- I teach in both English and French, making it easy for international guests to get the most out of every session.
